Tax Clerk Position Temp/FT

JOB OPPORTUNITY – TAX CLERK  -Posted July 19 2017

Due to a maternity leave the County of Warner No. 5 has an immediate opening for a temporary, full time Tax Clerk operating out of the County Administration office in Warner, Alberta. This position is responsible for the administration of municipal taxation including maintaining the property assessments, property tax billings, penalties, school declarations, tax recoveries and pre-authorized payments.

 

As Tax Clerk, you will perform a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:

providing effective and efficient administration of the County’s tax accounts which will involve establishment of new accounts, account maintenance, levies, adjustments, penalties and collection of arrears; prepare, maintain and balance the rolls for assessment/taxation as required by the Municipal Government Act (MGA), municipal bylaws and regulations; prepare and distribute annual tax levies; and answer all inquiries pertaining to municipal taxes in a professional and courteous manner.

 

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will possess:

• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Preference given to those with a degree or diploma in business or accounting.

• Microsoft Office applications, accounting software knowledge

• Experience in previous Tax Roll considered an asset

• Previous municipal government experience an asset

• Strong accounting knowledge

• Highly developed customer service skills and organizational skills

• Strong work ethic, the ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
